An Aradale Ghost Tour is a fun and interesting activity to enjoy whilst in Ararat, as you will be taken on an eerie tour of a lunatic asylum and prison.
The location of the tour is in the J Ward Museum Complex which houses artefacts and information dedicated to informing visitors about the history of criminals who were imprisoned here.
Aradale Ghost Tour, Walking Tour Ticket Prices, J Ward Asylum Ararat
At the J Ward Museum Complex, visitors get the chance to tour the original structures that housed the goldfield prisoners as well as see some of the preserved items from that era.
Visitors can take an after-dark tour through the cell blocks, administration, chapel, kitchen, infirmaries, surgery theatres and morgues. You will be led by a professional guide who will give you all the chilling details of this eerie asylum. The Aradale Ghost Tour typically runs every Friday and Saturday night from 7.30pm. Children should be at least 12 years of age to enjoy this tour.
Visitors should make sure to wear warm clothing, at it can get very cold in Ararat during winter and you should make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. A torch is also a great tool as well as your camera! Most of the tour is conducted indoors and there are stairs that need to be climbed as part of the tour.
