The Dunkeld Racecourse is best known for hosting the Dunkeld Cup, a horse race which is held during the Spring Racing Carnival in November each year.

The course is a true country course and does not boast a grandstand or permanent seating. Therefore the atmosphere is casual, with racegoers bringing their own picnic blankets to enjoy a day at the races! There is no dress code for general admission to the racecourse, shorts and t-shirts are welcome!
You are permitted to bring your own picnic into the races (no glass), however BYO alcohol is not permitted. There is a licenced bar on site. Personal BBQ’s are also not permitted to be used at the racecourse.
The Dunkeld Racing Club is a perfect way to engage with the racing community in the region. With membership options available for visitors, there is no better way to get amazing benefits on race days. On these days, gates typically open at 11am and the first race is generally at 1pm, but it is advisable to check details for specific events beforehand. There is ample parking on location.
To get to the race course by car, drive along the Western Highway to Ararat and connect from there by following the signage. Alternatively, take a train from Southern Cross Station to Ballarat, and then connect by bus to Dunkeld.
