The Ferntree Picnic Area is equipped with amenities including picnic tables, wood fire barbecues, non-flush toilets, some seats, a fireplace, and a small hut. For visitors who would like to camp, just head over to the corner of the picnic area where five campsites provide you privacy in a bushland-like setting. All campsites have a picnic table, wood fire barbecue, and fire pit. However, to use the campsite, it’s necessary to book and pay for these ahead of time with Parks Victoria.
From the picnic ground, you can go on other walks such as the Beeripmo Walk, Mount Buangor Walk, and the Mount Sugarloaf Circuit.
What makes Ferntree Falls so spectacular is not just the cascades but the environment itself. Mount Buangor seems to rise out of a farmland plain, while granite boulders and mountains create a plateau extending to Mount Cole in the east and Mount Langi Ghiran in the west. The highest peak in this area is Mount Buangor, standing majestically at 989 meters tall; it offers a moderate challenge for climbing enthusiasts.
Ferntree Falls, together with the park’s distinct flora and fauna, make this an exciting destination for nature lovers. It’s home to over 300 plant species, while various animals thrive in this place they call home. Other activities to enjoy here include four-wheel driving, camping, and bushwalking.
