Mitre Rock, considered the little sister of Mount Arapiles, is a picturesque, isolated rock outcrop typically used for moderate climbs.
The rock, which can be seen across the Arapiles proper, provides climbing enthusiasts with climbs that are up to three pitches long.

The walking tracks aren’t as well established as other nearby climbing areas, but it’s easy to explore since you can choose your own path. One of the best things about climbing this area is that you’ll rarely have to share it with other tourists and depending on when you go, there’s still a good chance you’ll have it all to yourself.
Sunset is also another great time to go; you can watch in awe as dusk approaches in Little Desert. Not many know of this area in the Wimmera, which adds to its charm.
To get to Mitre Rock, drive 35km west from Horsham – first travelling down the Wimmera Hwy for 25km, and then turn off at Natimuk-Frances Rd in Natimuk and drive for a further 10km.
