Pine Lake in the Grampians Region near Horsham is one of the best inland fishing destinations this side of Australia.
It encompasses around 734 hectares of the Wimmera-Mallee water supply system.

The lake was discovered in 1836 by Major Mitchell. When the lake was found, Mitchell determined that it mostly contained saltwater.
Throughout the decades, the lake saw many man-made changes, which included a conversion into a reservoir, the addition of channels, construction of the embankment, valve towers, and much more.
Today, Pine Lake is famous for fishing, as well as duck hunting. The lake’s perimeter is surrounded by wide grazing land, while it has a muddy bottom.
Avid anglers will find that the best fishing is done on the lake’s edges, particularly when the tide is high.
