With the extensive rugged terrain offering a diverse range of attractions, the Grampians is truly a unique destination perfect for families, honeymooners and backpackers. Surrounded by the majestic hill ranges housing lush flora, the mountainous landscapes of the Grampians boast beautiful rivers and many natural attractions.
You will also come across a number of small to large waterways across the stony landscape of the area. Visitors travelling to the Grampians should not miss the unique bushwalking and hiking activities available.
Venus Baths, Halls Gap Walking Track Loop
The baths are located at the end of a short, easy walk from the gate at the Botanical Gardens. The walk around the Venus Baths are only an easy grade 2.3km walk and it is well signed.
Accommodation choices near the baths include an array of B&Bs, villas, cabins, cottages, apartments and hotels. Come here to explore various Aboriginal rock arts and rock pools located along the running waterways. Visitors can also enjoy water slides as there are several smooth rock formations that swimmers can slide down.
Apart from the water activities, you will also find a number of scenic trails leading to the mountain peaks and lakeside areas within the Grampians National Park.
Visitors can also take a sightseeing tour to cover the other attractions that the area has to offer. Enjoy shopping at the main town centre of Halls Gap and browse through the various local stores, gift shops, craft stores whilst in the area.
Our group is coming early October and we have one person in a wheelchair. Are there any accessible paths and walks?
Hi Helen,
I actually found a really good guide about all of the wheelchair accessible paths and lookouts around the grampians area. Please see: https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/-/media/445d4b0e29534de0ab216e2075c2057f.pdf.
All the information can be found in there; including the grading of each path, maps and descriptions. The good news is most lookouts are wheelchair accessible, along with the paths in the Halls Gap area.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Michael
I am visiting Halls Gap soon and I was wondering if you could bring along your dog to all the walking trails or are there restrictions. If so what ones could we visit?
Hi Carly,
Dogs are not permitted anywhere in the Grampians National Park. So refer to one of the maps, but anything that falls within those boundaries does not allow dogs. Please refer to the park note here. So it might be best to leave your dog at home if you plan to hike a number of the trails.
Kind regards,
Jess
We are organising a camping trip for about 4-5 families. Interested in visiting the Mackenzie falls, Venus baths and wildlife park in the area. Where is the best camping ground available for the weekend of 11th March 2017?
Hi Ana,
There are a number of campgrounds in the Grampians region, so I have linked to a map for you here which has details on each.
Smiths Mill Campground is the closest to Mackenzie Falls.
Have a great time camping in the Grampians!
Kind regards,
Jess
I am looking for a family BBQ/picnic outing for a birthday and was hoping you could provide a little more information regarding a day trip from Melbourne to the Venus baths?
Hi Montina,
The Venus Baths are located right near the township of Halls Gap. The baths are located at the end of a short, easy walk from the gate at the Botanical Gardens. The walk around the Venus Baths are only an easy grade 2.3km walk and it is well signed.
There are no picnic areas at the baths themselves, but you can take a picnic to the Botanical Gardens (no picnic tables here) or Lake Bellfield to the south of Halls Gap (BBQ and picnic tables).
Have a great time in the Grampians!
Kind regards,
Jess
Are dogs allowed at the Venus baths?
Hi Montina,
Dogs are not permitted inside the Grampians National Park, the Venus Baths are located just inside the border. So unfortunately no, dogs are not permitted.
Kind regards,
Jess
